I was teased as a kid for a slight lisp that I had. Most kids never said a word or didn't notice it but there were a few who did. So they would tease me by using the Sylvester way of pronouncing an’s’. I would respond to the teasing with "How would you feel if you were me and I did that to you?" Most kids would stop after that. Then there was the one who answered "I wouldn't like it, so it's a good thing that I'm not you."
Needless to say some hurts never totally fade.
